Belanak began from a group of young artists who originally named themselves 'The Fine Arts Circle.' They had the aim to develop the world of art in West Sumatra. For that purpose, they needed to build an organisation that could coordinate art and cultural activities. At the same time, Belanak began to facilitate the documentation of art activities in West Sumatra. The group is also open to working with different communities and organisations.

VISION
• Develop creativity through activities which explore art and knowledge through intense activities through discussion and art practice.

MISSION
•  Add to the dynamic art scene in West Sumatra through creative activities and public programs.
•  Develop appreciation of art to wider society.
•  Document art activities which are developing in West Sumatra.
